Olá! My name is Matheus Carneiro, and I was born and raised in Curitiba, Brazil, but you can also call me Matt if you’d like. I graduated in Film and Audiovisual Production in 2019 at the State University of Paraná with intentions of making it in the film industry as an editor. That didn’t come to pass, so instead I applied my skills towards internet video and that turned into a career in community management!I love learning new things whether for professional or personal reasons, such as languages (I’m fluent in two!), software, and skills in general, and I’m also always on the lookout for new experiences both in the digital and real world. I’m a supporter of causes in neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental preservation, responsible urbanism, among others.Currently, I work remotely from Brazil and I’m based in the BRT time zone. I can easily adapt to teams in any part of the world, flexibility is my game.Glad to make your acquaintance!

Work philosophy

When it comes to community and social media management, my goal is to be as inclusive as I can and have that reflect positively on your brand. I aim to be friendly, welcoming, and uplifting to community members and peers alike. Instead of followers and likes, I prefer to seek quality engagement by focusing on creating positive sentiments and listening to people's concerns. A higher reach is then much easier to attain this way.For media analyst work, I aim to streamline processes and communication between internal and external parties to ensure campaigns run smoothly. With collaboration and clear goal statements, I can ensure success in spite of whatever twists and turns may occur along the way.

My career so far

From 2015 to 2018 I ran a web series on YouTube called Mystery Science Theater F1 where I got my first big opportunity of how to effectively craft engaging content and tapped into a niche that was not yet catered to - Formula 1 fans seeking alternative personalities to the usual pundits and journalists. In 2021 I began working at Motorsport TV as their live stream manager and for Traxion.GG as a content producer for their social media channels creating videos with user-submitted clips for community highlight reels. I also did some volunteer work as a moderator for their Discord and Twitch pages during special events that attracted a large number of viewers. In March of 2024 I was contracted by Agentur LOOP to work as a community manager for Porsche's Twitch broadcasts, where I still work to this day. I also worked at Vitrine Filmes, a Brazilian film distributor, handling the Vitrine Lab course and other film projects.

Guilty Games Studio

Into the Abyss (in development)

In November 2024 I joined developers Mason Quilty and Pat Guillen and artist Keyl Sparks for the Indie Game Academy Foundry Jam as the marketing and social lead of Into the Abyss, a 2D diving simulation game.Part of the game jam involved creating a pitch for our idea, and I was tasked with market research and outlining our efforts in driving attention, Steam wishlists, and sales of the game, as well as how we intend to support development of post-launch content with expansions and brand partnerships. We received great praise and feedback from the judges like "this is a pitch I would use as an example for first time indie devs to aim to emulate" from Tim Wood and "I really frickin love this kind of game and would happily work with them to bring this to fruition" from Corina Diaz. The game is currently still in early development and receiving regular updates on our itch.io page, and we are active on social media channels like Bluesky, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Vitrine Filmes

In September 2024 I joined Brazilian film distribution company Vitrine Filmes as a media analyst to aid in the Vitrine Lab project, an online course aimed at students and professionals dedicated to deepening the understanding of many aspects of film distribution.I worked with the social media managers in creating copy and collaborated with the design team in crafting assets for posts across a network of 504K followers to encourage people to sign up for the free course through organic and paid means. With an average engagement rate of 9.44% on LinkedIn posts, 55.4K interactions on Instagram, and 684 total sign ups, the campaign was a smashing success.I also acted as a moderator during the actual classes, fielding questions from students to teachers, and being a point of contact for students to send further questions about the classes and the course in general. After the success of Vitrine Lab I moved on to other campaigns for films such as Baby and Kasa Branca, working with marketing agencies and directly with influencers like Sabe Aquela Cena, Nicolas Avansini, and scfimoon to increase reach and drive potential moviegoers to see them in theaters.

In March of 2024 I was contracted by Agentur LOOP to work as a community manager and moderator on Porsche's Twitch channel during live broadcasts of esports and real-life motorsports events. Since then the channel has seen a nearly 21.5% growth in followers, 420 average viewers across the year, and a very happy and friendly community thanks to the efforts of the entire moderation team.My role consists of providing key reporting on sentiment and performance, as well as suggesting methods for improving the broadcast and strategizing methods of engagement to keep fans watching our content, even during technical outages. Additionally, I manage multiple channels simultaneously to engage with Porsche fans while also providing moderation services, keeping audience informed with links, and deploying tools such as polls and predictions, boosting the brand’s image as knowledgeable and invested in the community.Notable events I worked on include the 24 Hours of Le Mans and FIA World Endurance Championship season, IMSA SportsCar Championship races, the Porsche Esports Supercup, and ESL R1.

Traxion.GG

From October 2021 to November 2022 I was a content producer for Traxion.GG's social media pages. My work consisted of creating videos that were then published on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.My first project was a community clip showcase where I gathered videos submitted by followers of the website and compiled them in highlight reels. I produced 32 episodes that were watched hundreds of thousands of times across all social networks. After that, I proceeded to create highlight videos for the 2022 Esports Drift Association (ESDA) championship rounds once the series was picked up for broadcasting on Traxion's Twitch and YouTube channels. For these I captured in-game footage in Assetto Corsa using a mod that allowed me to control the camera like a drone, giving me great creative freedom with angles and framing, and I also contributed some social copy and art assets as necessary. Once my contract with Traxion ended, I continued to work with ESDA directly in 2023 and 2024.Other work I performed included Discord server and Twitch chat moderation for live streams and larger events such as the Virtual Le Mans Series races.

Twitch Moderation

One of my favorite types of content on the internet is live streaming. The unpredictability and interaction potential between viewers and streamers makes these events compelling and very entertaining. After spending time getting to know streamers and their communities, I was invited by a few of them to be a moderator during their Twitch broadcasts. My responsibilities include welcoming viewers and interacting with chat according to each community's guidelines, moderating misbehaving users, deploying polls and predictions for further engagement, and maximizing usage of Twitch's set of moderation features.Among the streamers I volunteer as a moderator for are Aeroteq, RynoGT4, taylor__mills, ThunderTHR, and SouthPawRacer.

Discord Moderation

As a community manager I'm well versed in how to create, moderate, and customize Discord servers. From places for close friends, groups for my personal content, to moderating channels for streamers and larger companies, I have done a bit of everything in my lifetime on the service.I can easily create a server from scratch and set up roles for people to choose pronouns, colors, and other categories as suitable. I also know how to set up one-way communication channels for alerts, announcements, and lists of rules of conduct for example. Lastly, I'm experienced in configuring bots in order to automate a lot of processes and streamline work for managers and moderators, with services such as MEE6 and carl-bot. These are all features of a well-built server that I think are essential for community moderation and growth.Among the servers I volunteer as a moderator for are Aerocord, RynoGTDiscord, and taylor__mills' server.

Controller Disconnected

Between January and August of 2020 I produced a small gaming and movies podcast called Controller Disconnected. The idea came about after months of a hyperfixation on podcasts in general and wanting to take a shot at making one myself.Throughout the run of the podcast I learned how to self-produce an audio show, how to distribute it across multiple platforms, networked with peers in the podcasting and gaming industries, and realized what it took to market a podcast completely from zero since I did not leverage any previous personal following on social media.Notable accolades include more than 10K downloads over the show's lifetime, reaching #1 on the Apple Podcasts "Leisure and Video Games" chart in Argentina and Canada, #2 on the "New & Noteworthy" chart in Canada, and a top 100 overall spot in the Canadian charts.

Mystery Science Theater F1

Between May 2015 and June 2018 I ran a comedic YouTube channel about Formula 1 called Mystery Science Theater F1. Taking inspiration from the original Mystery Science Theater 3000 show, the premise was that instead of analyzing F1 races in a journalistic manner I'd crack jokes to lighten the mood and bring a fresh perspective to the fandom. Along with CookP1, I was one of the first content creators to offer this sort of alternative to the newspapers and magazines with a more serious tone. While not my first time creating content on the internet, this was by far my most successful attempt with 13.7K subscribers to the YouTube channel, 4 million video views, 300.5K watch hours, and 21 million impressions across more than 80 videos. Outside of a few collaborations, this was a solo project all the way through — I wrote, produced, edited, published, and marketed every video on my own.On this page you can watch the top 3 most viewed videos on the channel, but if you'd like to watch my personal favorite instead, click here.

From December 2014 to October 2015 I was a regular visitor and contributor to Spotify's community forums. What began as an attempt to troubleshoot issues I was having with the service turned into paying it forward and helping other users with their troubles, be it with the desktop and mobile applications, account and billing issues, as well as partaking in off-topic and general music discussions. For my efforts I was bestowed upon the Spotify Star badge (formerly Rock Star), and joined other Stars in a Slack group where we discussed how to improve the forums and got a peek into features yet to be added to the service (I was one of the alpha and beta testers for the Discover Weekly playlist, for example). I also got other perks like free Premium subscriptions, branded clothing, among other gifts.Since I stopped regularly visiting the forums, I was given the Community Legend title in recognition of my time spent helping other Spotify users.
